Bart van de Roer
BART VAN DE ROER (1972) had his first piano lessons at the age of nine. In 1997 he graduated from his course as Performing Musician under Jan Wijn at the Amsterdam Conservatory. During his study he attended master classes with György Sebök, Eugen Indjic, KarlHeinz Kammerling and others.
He has won a number of awards: he took first prize at the Princess Christina Concours and the Steinway Concours in 1990 and in 1995 won an award at the Postbank Sweelinck Concours. In October 1996 he won first prize at the International Tromp Music Competition in Eindhoven. He was also awarded the 'Nederlands Werk' prize for interpreting a Dutch modern piece.
In November 1997 he gave a successful debut recital in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw. Since then he has performed in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, the Czech Republic, lreland, Switzerland and the United States.
In January 1998 he performed the world premiere of Peter van Onna's piano concerto during the annual tour of the Netherlands Student Orchestra. As a soloist he has performed piano concertos by Mozart, Chopin, Tchaikovsky, Franck, Fauré, Messiaen, Bartók and Prokofiev, with The Hague Philharmonic, the Brabant Orchestra, the Gelderland Orchestra, the Janácek Philharmonic Orchestra, the National Orchestra of Belgium and the Collegium Instrumentale Brugense. As a soloist he has recorded with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra (Leo Smit, Concerto 1937) and the Netherlands Ballet Orchestra (Peter van Onna, Concerto 1997).
Since 1995 Bart van de Roer has been a member of the Storioni Trio Amsterdam, together with Marc and Wouter Vossen (violin and cello respectively).
Bart van de Roer has been attached to Brabant Conservatory in Tilburg since 1998 teaching students majoring in piano.
Storioni Trio
The Storioni Trio Amsterdam was formed in 1995, taking its name from the Laorentius Storioni violin made in Cremona in 1794, played by Wouter Vossen. Marc Vossen plays a Giovanni Grancino cello made in Milan in 1700. The Trio has worked extensively with members of the Emerson Quartet, the Vermeer Quartet and with world renowned musicians such as Isaac Stern, Mstitslav Rostropovich, Menahem Pressler and Ralph Kirshbaum.
The Storioni Trio Amsterdam has a very wide-ranging repertoire, including works by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, Ravel and Shostakovich, as well as exciting new compositions by contemporary composers. The Trio is featured regularly on radio and television. Its recordings of works by Mozart, Brahms, Ives, the complete piano trios of Shostakovich, Tchaikovsky's Trio in A minor Op. 50 and Rachmaninov's Elegiaque in G minor, works by Dvorak, including the Piano Trio Op. 90 'Dumky' have been enthusiastically received by the press. Recently the Trio recorded with Nobuko Imai their fifth CD, of works by Schumann (Piano Trio No. 2 Op. 80, Piano Quartet Op. 47 and 4 Skizze für Pedalflügel opus 58).
The Storioni Trio Amsterdam is a regular guest at all the important concert halls of the Netherlands, such as The Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Concertgebouw de Doelen in Rotterdam, the Frits Philipshall in Eindhoven and the Muziekcentrum Vredenburg in Utrecht. The Trio is also active on an international level, and has performed at important venues all over the world, such as Wigmore Hall, London, and the Weill Recital Hall, New York, and has also made concert tours throughout India, the Middle East, Japan and the US. Future engagements include recitals in The Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, the Frick Collection, New York, the Palais des Beaux Arts, Brussels, Wigmore Hall, London and many other halls in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg and the UK. In 2003/4 the Trio will start their own series in the Frits Philipshall, Eindhoven as a result of sponsorship with Paste BV and collaboration with the venue, and will also tour with the Münchner Kammerorchester with Beethoven's Triple Concerto.
