SUMMER ACADEMY (July - August, 2009)
Founded in 1988, the International Summer Academy takes place each year in July-August in the beautiful village of Bergen, situated only three miles from the North Sea. Here, a new generation of soloists is intensively supervised and coached by an internationally renowned faculty of concert artists and pedagogues.

Application for the Summer Academy 2009 will be possible from January 2009.
MASTER CLASSES and CONCERTS
About 80 masterclasses and public concerts in Bergen NH and Alkmaar form the core of the summer program. These activities also mark the first step toward a possible invitation to perform during the upcoming concert season in Amsterdam (Concertgebouw), Bucharest (Ateneul Roman), Prague (SUK Hall, Rudolfinum), Moscow (Tchaikovski Conservatory, Rachmaninov Hall), St. Petersburg (Conservatoire, Glazunov Hall), Vologda (Vologda Philharmonic), Riga (Blackheads House, Assembly Hall), Tallinn (Estonia Concert Hall), Vilnius (Lithuanian National Philharmonic Hall), Bratislava (Danubiana Museum) as well as several festivals and concert series in the Netherlands.

CONCERT MANAGEMENT
The International Holland Music Sessions organizes over 100 public concerts each year and covers the costs of travel and housing as well as fee (based on international standards for young professional musicians) for those musicians who are invited to perform.
INTERNATIONAL CONCERTS
In this section you will find detailed information of all concerts in Europe, as well as a chronological diary. Also you will find background information about the New Masters on Tour selected during the Summer Academy, and their concerts.
ATTENDING CONCERTS AND PUBLIC MASTER CLASSES
During the period of the Summer Sessions and throughout the year concerts and recitals are organized by TIHMS in various locations in the Netherlands as well as abroad. In addition, during the Summer-Academy period many master classes are open to the public. In June 2009 you will find an overview of the concerts and master classes in the section <Concerten Nederland>. You will be able to reserve tickets to these events online.
NEW MASTERS ON TOUR CONCERTS
During the season 2008-2009 there are concerts in the series 'New Masters on Tour' in the Recital Hall of the Concertgebouw Amsterdam. Please refer to <Concerten Nederland> for more information.

Many musicians began their careers at The International Holland Music Sessions. We have included a selection of former participants who are now enjoying flourishing careers on the concert stage and as musicians in leading orchestras.

The International Holland Music Sessions is proud to announce that again participants at the Summer Academy were succesfull at international competitions.
We congratulate:
Hungarian celist ISTVÁN VARDAI, first prize + pubic prize at the
Geneva International Music Competition, 2008
(His accompanist during the competition was his compatriot Balázs Fülei who was awarded as the best accompanist during the Tchaikovsky competition, Moscow 2007).
Dutch pianist HANNES MINNAAR, second prize (1st nominated) + public prize (1st prize not attributed) at the Geneva International Music Competition, 2008
Dutch violinist CARLA LEURS, second prize at the 1st 'Nuri Iyicil' international violin competition, Istanbul , 2008
September 2008
We congratulate Martina Filjak, pianist, former participant in the International Holland Music Sessions. After winning the 'G.B. Viotti' Piano Competition in 2007, she also was 1st prize winner of the 'Maria Canals' Competition in Barcelona Spain, in 2008.
August 2008
The DALI Piano Trio is happy to announce they have been awarded First Prize "GOLD MEDAL" in the OSAKA Chamber Music Competition 2008, Japan. Amandine Savary is the pianist of The DALI Piano Trio. She is selected for the New Masters On Tour series, and she can be heard in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam on 11 November (see above).
March 2008
Cellist Steven Bourne, participant on TIHMS since 2006, has been chosen to represent the Netherlands on The Eurovision Young Musicians Competition in Vienna, that will take place May 2008. Congratulations on behalf of the TIHMS team!
October 2007
Romain David prize winner International Piano Competition Bremen, Germany
Pianist Romain David, selected in the 2007-2008 TIHMS New Masters On Tour series, was 2nd prize winner, winner of the public prize and best interpreter of the compulsory piece in the Piano Competition in Bremen, held in october 2007. Congratulations on behalf of TIHMS!

Russian pianist Miroslav Kultyshev winner Tchaikovski competition, Moscow 2007.
The Internationl Holland Music Sessions congratulates Miroslav Kultyshev with his second prize at the International Tchaikovski Competition in Moscow (first prize not awarded).
Miroslav Kultyshev won a scholarship two years ago at a TIHMS international audition in St. Petersburg to participate at the Summer Academy in Bergen NH in The Netherlands.
In 2006 he was invited by TIHMS for international concerts in the serie 'New Masters on Tour' and played for TIHMS in concerts in St Petersburg and in Moscow.
Concerts in Alkmaar, Bergen NH and Amsterdam
By winning the Tchaikovski competition his international career starts with tours in Japan, Korea and the United Kingdom, but he will be in the Netherlands giving concerts for TIHMS this summer in Alkmaar (July 31), Bergen (August 4), and the Amsterdam Concertgebouw on March 30th, 2008.
The International Holland Music Sessions congratulates cellist Joris van den Berg. winner in october 2006 of the Amsterdam Cello Biënnale (First National Cello Competition).
(Joris van den Berg is since 2003 participant at the summer academy of The International Holland Music Sessions).
